A 2 cm x 3 cm rectangle lies in the xz-plane. What is the electric flux through the rectangle if...

E=(50i + 100J) N/C

attempt at problem: I found out that the area of the rectangle is -6 X 10^-4 and that Electric Flux=E x A however, i get stuck here....

  1. Only the 50i component of the flux will pass through the plane.  The 100j component of the field will cause zero flux through the plane, because it is orthogonal to the plane.

    flux = 6 * 10^-4 m * 50 N/C
