Help with camcorder- which one do i get?

Hi

I'm going to shoot a bmxing short film - And i need a very good camcorder which makes the filming look very good and professional - if you know what I mean.

Can anyone make any recommendations?

I'm willing to spend up to about £1,000

Video is only part of the process. Audio plays a huge part too.

The least expensive camcorders with a mic jack and manual audio control are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HC9. They shoot in high definition (1080i) and standard definition. And the Canons to 24p.

So you'll want a couple of different mics, too... a shotgun mic and a stereo condenser mic.

If you can find a camera with a 3CCD sensor, it will shoot good production footage.
