Hi

I have a nissan micra which myself and partner are insured on and I intend to sell. I have bought a peguot but the problem is that it needs taxing and to get tax I need to insure it and this is when it gets complicated - The peugot is in Brighton in my parents garage and they plan to drive it upto me in Liverpool.

The question is what do I do about the tax and insurance for it as I dont want to cancel or transfer my current insurance on my micra as I need the car until my new one arrives, my dad will also need to be insured to drive it up.

PLEASE HELP VERY CONFUSED

  1. I see, and have been through this recently.  I think there is no other way except to pay the tax and obtain insurance on the arriving car, as you continue to insure and attempt to sell the old one.  The "right" way always seems to cost money.  Sorry.

  2. sorn the car as being off the road and therefore you won't get into trouble.   I would ring the insurance people and tell them the date that you want to transfer the insurance over.  A letter will come in the post confirming that and you can get the tax ready intime to use the new car.  Hope you understand that lol.
