Help with card counting?

im using the high low method and i can count just fine but i just dont get how it helps you when your playing the game please help

By "the game", I think you mean Blackjack. The way card counting works is to adjust your bet when the remaining cards in the deck are in your favor.

Generally, the player has the advantage if there are more ten-point cards in the deck (for the high-low system, the count will be negative), and the dealer has the advantage if there are more low-point cards in the deck (for the high-low system, the count will be positive).

The critical rule of Blackjack that makes this card counting possible is that the player ALWAYS has the option not to accept another card, whereas the dealer is MUST accept another card with a stiff hand.

To use the high-low method to help you win more money, you increase your bet when the running count is significantly negative, and you scale back your bet to the minimum when the running count is significantly positive.

Card counting doesn't affect your hit/stand/split/double decisions at all, just how much you should wager. It's tough to pull off, but potentially profitable if applied successfully and combined with a sound game strategy.
