You need to tell where you want a job.

  2. You'll need an advanced degree in applied science.  When I was working on my graduate degree, climate change was an emerging issue.  In my department at the university there were professors in biology, chemistry, physics and engineering all under the heading of environmental engineering.  So any one of these fields of study are applicable to climate change.  I imagine that the most prominent researchers in climate change are PhD’s in a wide range of applied sciences that work collaboratively with others from across the range of applied sciences.

What should you do?  Applied science, graduate degree (MS or PhD).  Physics, engineering and chemistry have more math that biology.
