  1. i have my catilage pierced too. but, this is the second time ive had it done. the first time i got it done it got realy infected and swollen and my step dad had to pull it out wit plyers. i talked to a proffesional piercer and she said it was because i got it done with a gun and it shaddered the cartilage. soo, you might want to think about that before you decide to get it done with a gun. :)

  2. Guns are not advised for cartilage piercings.  They tear up the cartilage and make it more difficult for the ear to heal.  They are also more likely to get infected and scar pretty bad.  If I were you I would go to a piercing shop and have it done with a needle.  It will heal a lot faster and is less likely to form a keloid (Where the skin grows around the piercing)

  3. It'd be way better for you to get it done with a needle.

But I got it done with a gun, and it healed perfectly in 2 weeks.

    Good luck! :)

  4. ive had several cartilage piercings, most done by a proper piercer with a needle, and they all healed perfectly...i got one done at claires with a gun, and the cartilage shattered and got really badly infected...i'd think about going to a proper piercer, to be on the safe side...

and i used to have to hide my cartilage piercings from my parents too, but they eventually find out...it'll probably be best to tell them :P

  5. yes that is bad. you should get it done with a needle

  6. thats not bad

    its an ear thats it

    not a big deal

  7. I hate to tell you this, but I do not think that Claire's will do that for you. Two problems: legally, Claire's has to ask for a guardian permission (with you), and if it is in a mall, where these stores usually are, they are strict about this. Second, most Claire's do not pierce cartiladge. The cartiladge refers to the general upper portion of your ear -- not the flappy part. A much better idea, if you are determined to get a cartiladge piercing without your parents knowledge, to to get the older silbling of a friend, or someone who can pass as your parent, to take you to an established place. A lot of malls have those stands in the middle of the walkway that do all types of piercings -- they will check ID, though, unless you actually know the piecer -- and from personal experience they are generally inexpensive and professional.

Just make sure whoever does the cartiladge piecing does not hit any blood vessels and does it in a place it will be comfortable -- this lessens the chance of infections / pain. And make sure not to touch it too much once its done. The oils on your hands can get it infected or irritated very quickly.

To respond to other comments above mine: I had my cartiladge done with a gun, and it did not turn out disasterous. (I still have it in and it is not infected). However, I got it done in a professional tattoo / piercer... not by a Claire's associate.
