pls. indicate the solution.. 1. find the mass O produced from the decomposition of 2.55g KClO3???

2. iron is prepared in a blast furnace by reacting hematite (Fe3O4) with carbon monoxide (CO). Fe3O4 + CO(g) ----> Fe(l) + CO2(g). how much Fe can be produced by this rxn when 2.00x10^3kg Fe3O4 and 1.50x10^3 kg CO are brought together in the blast furnance.

please indicate the solution.. thanks. ;)

  1. 2 KClO3 = 2 KCl + 3 O2

    Molar mass KClO3 = 122.548g

    Molar mass O2 = 31.998g

    245.096g KClO3 prodfuces 95.994g O2

    2.55g KClO3 produces  2.55/245.096*95.994 = 0.9987g O2

    Round off

    Answer: 2.55g KClO3 produces 1.00g O2

    2.)   Fe3O4 + 4 CO = 3 Fe + 4 CO2

    Molar mass Fe3O4 = 231.531g

    Molar mass CO = 28.01g

    231.531g Fe3O4 will react with 4*28.01 = 112.04g CO

    2.00*10³kg Fe3O4 will react with 2.00*10³ *112.04/231.531=967.8kg CO

The Fe3O4 is the limiting reagent.

    Molar mass Fe = 55.845

    231.531g Fe3O4 will produce 3*55.845 = 167.535g Fe

    2.00*10³ kg Fe3O4 will produce :

    2.00*10³ * 167.535/231.531 = 1,447.2kg Fe

    Answer 1,447.2kg Fe
