we've been doing significant numbers in chemistry and i don't understand this problem at all. i get that density=mass/volume, but i don't know how to plug this info into that equation:

The density of aluminum is 2.7g/mL. What is the volume of 8.1 g?

someone please walk me through this problem!!!

  1. you know the equation for Density = Mass/ Volume

    you need to find Volume, which is Mass/ Density

    you're given that the density of Al is 2.7g/mL and asked to find the volume of 8.1g of Al, meaning you now have both the density (D) of Al and the mass (M) of your sample.

    Just plug those into the equation for Volume, giving you:

    V = (8.1g)/(2.7g/mL)

    yeps.. now you can just plug that into your calculator..

    i hope this is understandable and helpful =)
