Help with choosing a career?

ok...my whole life I have been fascinated by rollercoasters and waterslides. I have thought about going into a career that builds coasters or slides, but I don't like math or physics, so I know that wouldn't be good. However, I like art and I'm good at it. I thought about maybe having a job that designs ride decorations and scenery. Would I need an engineering degree for that? is there still lots of math and physics involved with that? For those of you who are involved with these kinds of careers, your friendly advice and input would be greatly appreciated. please and thank you in advance!

  1. unfortunately, the career you like revolves around math, meaning it has to do with mostly math and physics. I suggest that you get better at math and physics, if you want to be in such careers. And yes, i think you so need a engineering degree for it.

  2. You need to do both. As far as designing the stuff, there aren't that many openings. Very competitive b/c think about it how many parks are there? Now of those parks how frequently are people getting new rides? not many. So..... Yeah you gotta know about physics and math, but you gotta be able to DRAW. Well, you do but you don't b/c usually there's a team of people. Look on the Travel channel to see how rides are made. I saw the disney ride "aerial" or whatever being made and the guy that designed the prototype made a mini thing to give an idea of how the ride would work (you feel like you're riding on that glider thing that kite that you can fly around in. ) So he made that.

BUT YOU CAN get into animation and make video game rides and remember some movie theaters would do that film where you felt like you were riding on a rollercoaster.

I just saw how Harry Potter's design team for the theme park were working on stuff. Soo.... it's possible. I think you gotta know people and work for a company that specifies in rides. Disney might have a bigger section for this, try interning with them.

  3. be a artoonist oh and u are really asking random people to be wat in life

  4. i'd say be an artist, you can sculpt stuff like slides and roller coasters, and you can sell them, that way you can be involvled with art, and still design roller coasters and slides.
