I'm working on fixing my clothes dryer's fanbelt (it finally gave out). I've installed the new one, but the tumbler doesn't want to turn even when the machine's on. I can turn it myself, but it's still broken. What am I doing wrong? Is there anything special i should do too? Thanks, people.

it's a maytag and the model nuber is LDE7304ACL. help now please?

Tumbler will turn when i pull o the fanbelt manually

I keep asking this question, but I've only gotten one asnwer and I really need help with this. Thanks again.

  1. Did you remember to thread the belt around the tension pulley?? Most driers have a tension pulley and if the belt is not around it the tumbler will not turn.

  2. Skyhawk has your answer!  I take it that your old belt broke, so you didn't have the proper 'routing' for the new belt to follow over the pulleys, including that of the 'tensioner'.  Good luck with "getting it right"!

On second thought!!  If your old belt did NOT break, perhaps your electric drive motor has 'conked out'.  Do you know that the drive motor *does* run properly?  Is the problem *just* in the lack of proper movement of the new belt?
