Help with coloring!?

I became a pretty good drawer, but i cant color to save my life. any advice to help me with this coloring dilemma. Draw something good, but when its time to color, i mess it up. anything would help please! advice, websites, anything. PLEASE!!!!

  1. how about you start with shading and then moving on to coloring. get some shading pencils, like 10 bucks  


  2. Yes, I was exactly the same. I now paint in full colour without problems.

    What I did was to mix Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Marine blue. This makes a vibrant black. Instead of colouring, I just filled in the shades.

    So I wound up with a tonal painting all in shades of black and grey. When dry, white was added to the highlights. When all this is dry, you can add glazes of colour (Paint mixed with lots of medium).

    simple.

  4. for a start, you can just try to use flat colors. if you've gotten the hang of it, then you start with light & shadow.

    black & white pictures are always good too though.

    start to paint with oil color
