OK,I have my new dvr hooked up as the main recorder now in place of the vhs.I just wanted to put my old dvd player(well, older,it is only a couple years old) to it also so I can leave the disc in the dvr all the time and just watch movies on the dvd player.I swear I hooked it up correctly according to the instructions with the rca cables from the old dvd to the new one. Then I bought an s-video cable and tried it that way with,it still won't work.Any suggestions other than finding a cable guy to date ?All answers appreciated.

  1. If you hook up 2 DVD players - you need to run them both directly to the TV. Do not run one through the other.

DVD's have copy protection. If you feed the recorder from your old DVD player - you could simply make copies of DVD's.  There are things in place to prevent this.

Use sVideo cables to 2 different inputs on your TV and get used to toggling between them.
