Question:

Help with contesting a parking ticket?

My wife parked in a 2 hour parking zone that was listed as being from 9-6. She parked in the zone at 5:30. She went to class and when she came back she had a ticket! She was there for over two hours but the limit time ended at 6. Is this reason enough for contesting the ticket?

  1. If she parked at 5:30 in a 2-hour zone that expires at 6, the ticket is in error...She still has a right to park there for 2 hours or more after 6...In a time zone like this, the parking enforcement patrol comes along and "paints" the left rear tire tread...Then they come back 2 hours later and if the vehicle is still there (as evidenced by the paint on the tire treads), a citation is issued...Now it is up to you to prove that she was somewhere else before 5:30 - like with a shopping receipt or a statement from a witness...Check with the law dogs...I'm sure they will want to settle this amicably.

    All the best.

  2. You should contest the ticket plain and simple........

  3. Sounds like you have a winner.

But make sure she didn't get the ticket for a different reason.  Here in NYC,  at any one time, there are 1, 2 or 3 parking restrictions.

    good Luck...
