I have this conversion problem I need to do for math, and I need to show how to do it step by step, including which units cancel out, but I'm not sure how to do it.

I need to convert:

  1. 1 kilometer= 1000 meters

    1 hour= 60 minutes= 3600 seconds

    5.24km/hr*1000m/1km (this is essentially multiplying it by 1)= 5240m/hr

    5240m/hr*1hr/3600s= 1.455...m/s

  2. btw there might be better places to get help for homework questions...i personally told my brothers to use tutor.com or brainfuse (it might be offered at your library website for free) because that way you can interact with another person and can see what they are drawing. It'll make your question a whole lot more clearer to the person who's answering your quesiton and a more clearer answer for you.

    but anyways

    5.24 km/hour x ( 1 hour/3600 sec) x (1000 m/1km)

    =1.456 m/s

  3. Unfortunately, jake's answer is off by a factor of 10, because there aren't 360 seconds in an hour.  There are 3,600 seconds in an hour: 60 sec/min x 60 min/hr = 3,600 sec/hr.

    1 km = 1,000 m ----> 5.24 km = 5.24 x 1,000 m = 5,240 m.

    Since there are 3,600 sec/hr, then 5.24 km/hr = 5,240 m/3,600 sec ≈ 1.4556 m/sec.
