  1. As excess paint 'may have ' run down under the skirting board, towards the floor, it's best to leave the tape for a while, until the paint is 'tacky' so that any pool of paint doesn't leak/mark the edging floorboards. Then carefully and slowly remove the tape.

  2. 3M makes blue painters tape with varying degrees of "stick" to them.  One type is meant to be removed same-day, and the other can be left on longer.  (I always get the kind that can stay a while, because I never know how inspired I'll be to clean up after a painting project).  Both types come in a variety of widths.

  3. I would say the opposite!!  Lift the tape before the paint dries, or you could get it seeping underneath the tape and running.  Likewise, once it's dry, you run the risk of pulling off some of the new paint with the tape unless you slide a knife edge between the boards and lower edge of the skirting.  However. if there is a gap between the skirting and boards, and the paint hasn't bridged this gap, then you'll be OK to leave it till all dry.

    does this make sense?

  4. It is best to leave the tape on till the paint drys so that the paint does not go off track like there is a fan blowing it (if u know what i mean)

you should keep the tape on so it does not get all messed up and you have to re-do it again
