Can someone help me out? I'm currently on Pristiq for clinical depression it helps me function but it is causing me insomnia. I started taking it in the morning to help with that but I still can't sleep. Also my husband is bipolar and cannot take medication for it. He tried different medications but instead of helping him they made him worse. Does anyone have any suggestions in how he could cope with this without medication?

Thanks

  1. My understanding of bipolar consists of incredible highs and likewise lows.  Do you and your husband follow the same --- what I'll call a sine wave --- or do you have your highs and lows opposite of each other.  My understanding of bipolar is that it may be introduced by drugs you are are taking.  I find it highly unlikely two bipolar people would marry.  Try to find something both of you enjoy.  Try to be be a little more mellow than just blaming the other.  All of us know drugs serve a purpose, for a time, but in the end all of want to get off them.  So try with your husband, as on your wedding night to love him, and I'm sure he will too.  Pray, maybe your prayer will be answered

  2. If he is truly bipolar( confirmed by a dr.)you can try diet and exercise, walking 30min. + daily and lots of fresh fruits & vegs. Otherwise if for sure he has this an excellent med. for bipolar is..BUS PAR.. Works great with no bad side affects. Tell him to ask his dr. to give it a try. hope this helps you good luck!!!

  3. You both need counseling, which is proven to be just as effective as most medications and can help even more when used with medications. There are local facilities that can put you in touch with the right people. Especially if you are depressed, you need to be talking to a professional. Your mental health is just as important as your physical, but physical doctors often misdiagnose and over diagnose medicine. Just something to think about.

  4. Cymbalta could really help you with your clinical depression.  I would definitely recommend that your husband go see a doctor.
