  1. 8.1 MP tells you how large each picture the camera holds.  Don't confuse "MP" and "MB."  MP means megapixels and MB means megabytes.  An 8.1 MP image might be about 4-to-5 MB.  The MB tells you how large the file will be, so a 512 MB memory card will hold about 100 images in the biggest size, best resolution, which are things you can adjust with the camera.  You WILL need to buy a memory card and I'd suggest that you get a decent 1 GB card, such as a Sandisk Ultra II card.  You can use this card with your next camera, too, and you may as well own a decent one.

The price is probably "right" on this camera.  For a little bit more, you might like the Fujifilm FinePix J10 or Nikon Coolpix L18 or S210.

Between those two, I'd choose the Samsung.  Either one should be fine for general purpose 4x6, 5x7 prints, e-mail, MySpace, and stuff like that, but we get more questions and complaints from Polaroid users than Samsung users.  You will not want to be getting any 8x10 prints from either camera, though.
