Help....with dvd drive

Question

i have an acer computer with a dvd in it but it doesnt work had my computer for about a year it just wont play actually its like it just freezes,some one said i may not have the drivers for it or the decoders for it>?

truth is i have no idea

I have windows xp

anyone know what i need or what i can download to make it work?

If you can find who the manufacturer of the DVD drive is, and can get the model number of the drive, you should be able to go to their web site and download the drivers for it, if that's all you need.  The manufacturer of your computer may also have drivers for your DVD drive.
