  1. You could set up a proportion using girls and total people as the fraction parts.

    6..........x............6.......x

    ----- = -------- ==> --- = -------

    6+7....1352........13....1352

    Now cross-multiply and solve.

    13x=6*1352

    13x = 8112

    x = 624

    Or in this case the first denominator goes into the second denominator exactly 104 times, so the first numerator can be multiplied by 104 to find "x".

    (6/13)*(104/104) = 624/1352

    answer: 624 girls

  2. total girls and boys  = 13

    compare the girls to the total students

    girls/students the ratio is

    6 / 13 =  x / 1352 cross multiply

    13 * x = 6 * 1352

    13x = 8112

    x = 8112/13 ===> 624 girls

  3. = 1,352(6/[6 + 7])

    = 1,352(6/13)

    = (1,352/13)(6/[13/13])

    = 104(6)

    = 624

    Answer: 624 are the girls

    Proof (ratio is 6:7):

    = 624:1,352 - 624

    = 624:728

    = 624/104:728/104

    = 6:7

  4. the way i do it is i take 6 + 7

    and that = 13

    take 1352 divided by 13

    that = 104

    since you're looking for the number of girls you take 104 x 6

    = 624

  5. So ratios are like two parts of one thing. 6 'parts' of 1352 are girls and 7 'parts' are guys. TO figure this out just see how much 'parts are in all. In this case 6+7= 13, so 13 is the whole. 6/13s are girls and 7/13s are guys. Now all you have to do is divide 1352 by 13 to see how much is 1/13, then multiply by the respectives ratio of the girls

    ex:1/13 of 1352 is __

    __x 6= #of girls
