Help with feeding my box turtle?

plz help i need to get my box turtle to eat and its not sick or stressed but i cant find out what to feed it do they eat food outa the cans ? like corn mushrooms and other veggies? wat about home grown veggies like cabbage lettuce tomamtoes and straw berries? do they eat mull berries? how bout turt pellets? and what kinds of insects should i feed him? and how often do i need to feed him? and is it true they need a water dish to use the bathroom in?

  1. I am guessing it is a wild-caught turtle.  if so, please return where you found it before you kill it.  thank you.


  2. Hold the cabbage and head lettuce but the other things can be fed to them. Earthworms are a special treat. Soft-bodied insects are best; hard-bodied ones can cause intestinal impaction if they form a large part of the diet.

    If you have an adult, feed it from once per week (summer) to once per month (winter) but feed it all it will eat at one time.

    Box turtles need a shallow dish for drinking and soaking. I don't know whether they NEED it to defecate in but they all seem to use it for that.
