  1. We live in western Canada.  We use Sonlight.  It's not a Canadian curriculum, but it's really good, especially if you love literature.  We just add Canadian content to it.  In the earlier grades, whenever it brushes up against Canadian history or social, we take some extra time and delve further into it using the internet and other materials we have on hand.  Starting in about grade four, we supplement the program with Donna Ward's books on Canadian history and geography.  Here are some links:

  2. I don't know of any Canadian Curriculum, but I do know where you can find materials.   Academic Distribution Services, out of New Westminster BC, will send you a free catalogue.    Call 1-800-276-0078 or E-mail: sales@ads-academic.com.

They also sell ACE and Alpha Omega and modify it to include Canadian history.  They also have other Canadian materials.

  3. My neice and nephew use the ACE program that "Gypsey" refers too.  They have on-line testing for the main subjects and the results will incidate the level the individual should start with, as well as any shortcomings -- (maybe punctuation, using compound sentences, etc.).  I have a lot of friends who have/or currently are homeschooling their children.  I also have a number of friends who were homeschooled.

There is a lot of material out there.  Is is for yourself or your children/dependants?  If it is for more than one student (if so, how many & what age); do you want to teach them all at the same time with regards to some subjects?

Are you in Atlantic, Central or Western Canada?

Do you want Christian based material or other types of educational material?

Do you want materials that you basically order/obtain and everything required is included   OR   do you want to be flexible with your material?

The student's learning style is important as well.

If you want more info, let me know.  Good Luck!

  4. There isn't a set curriculum for homeschoolers in Canada.  We just piece ours togther as we go.

What ages and grades are you looking for?
