Help with fish identification ?

Question

I was in my local petshop the other day and seen a lovely fish but cant remember the name of it. It's black, sort of eel like shape and white at the end. I noticed they can swim backwards and in all directions. I want to know the name so i can find out if it's compatible with my other fish. Thanks in advance for any info.

Black ghost knife fish. They are very pretty, but can get quite big.
