Question:

Help with flooding freezer! Way to turn off water?

We have a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator. It is about eight years old. Our freezer door has ice and water dispensers.

I just discovered that the freezer side is full of water. This is not from defrosting. There is a puddle on the bottom. There is an occasional noise that sounds like the water dispenser is being used. A bit of water rolls down the outside of the door; coming from underneath the ice and water dispensers.

Is there a way to shut the water off to the freezer? It's the middle of the night and we can't do anything until morning.

Thank you.

  1. see if you can find the small hose aticemaker that leads back to the water source, probably under the sink. it's probably as wide as a drinking straw. once you find the tube, see if you can pinch it shut so no water can get through to the fridge.  good luck

  2. The only way is to turn off the line to your fridge, which is behind the fridge.  Usually there is an on/off valve on the line.  So, basically, you gotta pull the fridge out to turn it off.  Sorry.  Hope this helps. :)

  3. water shut off is either under your sink or in basement under unit! Sound of water occasional is your ice maker calling for water!

If the water is building up on bottom it can be from a clogged drain in the bottom back of freezer where defrost water goes to exit to drain pan underneath?
