Question:

Help with foreign exchange programs and where to go.?

-I would like to go to Australia, New Zealand, or England as a foreign exchange student

-No more than a semester long (preferably during the summer)

-I will be a high school junior in the fall and would like to go on this trip as soon as possible, not my senior year

-Can I still register? Is it too late to do it this upcoming year?

-A good exchange program

-Good rates (not too expensive)

-If I go to England/Australia/New Zealand, when is the best time to go?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I would highly recommend going through AFS they have 60 years of experience in intercultural exchanges and have several different programs- full year, semester, and summer home stays. You can probably still register for the 2009 summer programs but I would be quick to apply, the earlier the better! They don't exchange to the UK because there weren't enough volunteers but they have programs to both Australia and New Zealand. I think the only options you have are possibly the second semester if they haven't filled up already or the summer home stay. The programs are a little pricey because you have to travel so far but it's definitely worth it! AFS also has a fundraising help site that you can take a look at.

    Good Luck!

  2. As Aus/NZ are in the southern hemisphere, so the seasons are switched. Australian schools school year is essentially the normal calendar year, so they are in session during our (US) summer.

you may be able to find a semester program during our summer, in between the junior and senior years.

    eh, just a thought.
