Question:

Help with full tattoo sleeve ideas?

I've seen a lot of people with tattoo sleeves, and think they look really cool, and have decided to get one myself, but since it's a tattoo, I want it to be something meaningful, which is where my problem is: I have an idea for a tattoo sleeve, but I'm not sure how to put it together.

First off, are tattoo sleeves usually just one big tattoo spanning the length of the arm, or dozens of smaller tattoos?

Ok, now for my idea. I'm a Christian, so whatever tattoos I get have to be Christian related, and I was thinking it would be cool to have a sort of time-line, starting from my shoulder/blade/neck area, down to my writst or the top of my palm. The problem I have is, I'm not sure what to put. I don't want anything really obvious (like crucifixes; the most I'd be willing to get would be a cross). I want them to be symbols, a big metaphor type of thing. I know this may sound confusing, but if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

  1. The other answerers gave some good advice. I would add that you are obviously making a lifelong decision by getting inked, so be sure you REALLY think it through. There are many Christian symbols you could get, such as fish, Alpha & Omega symbols, Chi Rho, Dogwood blossoms, and olive branches. I attached a link with more, and also a link to buy sleeves that you wear, that way you can test-drive it and see if you like having that ink all over you before you take the plunge. Good luck and God bless.

  2. Since you have a basic idea I would suggest going to a few tattoo shops and talking to different tattoo artist.  Any good tattooist will be able to work with you and come up with some creative and orginal.  I would try and use google images and see if you can find a few pictures (not necessarily tattoo pictures) of things that go along with your idea and bring them with you. Based on how helpful or unhelpful the tattooist is will also help you decide if you want them to actually tattoo you. Good Luck!

  3. they can be bothe....one big tattoo or a bunch of tiny ones...

REALLY...i wouldnt be askin on here what to get.

you cant really ask people "what you should get as a tattoo"

tattoos should personal...have a reason....or even be for personal experiences.

if you donr know what you want even if you think it looook so cool. its obvious you are not ready for one.

im not trying to be mean...

but itll be more meaningful when your older.

im 19 and have a tattoo on my chest. it took me a year to decide that i REALLY wanted this tattoo. its a single tattoo and it looks weird cause my whole chest isnt done but i dont now what else i want and i dont plan on getting the rest done JUST BECAUSE I NEEED THE REST FILLED UP..

just think...of what the tattoo will mean to you...and how much you want it for the restof your life.
