I'm doing A levels at college in September and i need english and maths to get in i did so badly in and got an F in english lit and a E in english language and got a D in maths :S

Now i need C's in all these subjects and I'm just wondering if the college would give me the benefit of the doubt and still let me on the course or if they would let me retake the gcse's and do the course at the same time.

:)

  1. Well you will need to have the requirements to do what you first applied for but they may still let you take some A Levels whilst re-sitting your English and Maths GCSE - so you will probably get onto one A Level or a BTEC.

  2. Aw hun, something I realised when I did a GCSE Double award English course at college, many moons ago, but I sat the first exams when it switched from O Level to GCSE, the examiners want to know what the chosen books in Literature & the poems say to you, your impressions of them, not what your tutor tells you they are about.

The examiners want your take, you can re-sit your courses again in college along with doing your A level course, if you think you can take the pressure & do the work, then perhaps you should consider it.

    Good Luck. X :-)

  3. I guess it all depends on how many people want into the course. People with the required grades are top priority, but nothing is ever set in stone. What you could do is possibly write a letter explain why you couldn't get the required results and that if you could get into do A levels you would put in your best efforts.

If all else fails but you really want to go through with A levels, then your final option is to re-take your GCSE's.
