I'm interested in any charities or organisations that could assist with getting a special chair for my 6 yr old son with epilepsy. He has major mobility problems would like to know where to start in getting some help for him

  1. You might try Social Services, I could not getone for my wife unfortunately but there some good ones for sale on e-bay for around £20.00.

  2. Hi Hun ..if your in the UK there is a charity called whizz kids the link is below

    good luck x

  3. your Doctor, social services and the C A B you don't say what country your in though

  4. Try the Arkansas Children's Hospital, in Little Rock Arkansas.

  5. Contact you local Chamber of Commerce and ask for a contact number to a Shriner.  If your son attends school in the United States the school should help you with this as it is a safety issue while on campus.  Have his doctor write a prescrition for physcial therapy and a wheel chair assessment.

  6. If you have social worker or care worker they should get you the help you need. If not you might like to go and see the local C.A.B who will put you in touch with known charities .Hope this helps .

  7. Hi, not knowing your area I can't say if any of the organisations will be available to you but,..

Try your local red cross, they have a mobility loan service.

Try the local newspapers for second hand items, but first,

Contact your health visitor or district nurse (depending on your son's age) and they should be able to help, either with pointing you in the right direction or with actually getting the wheels!

    Good luck.

  8. Through your GP. There is a wheelchair service that allows you to " Hire", at no cost, a wheelchair. I got one for my mum earlier this year. It's a case of -  it's yours whilst ever you need it.  It just requires  your GP to fill in a referral / application form. When the service receive it they will get in touch with you to ask for your specific needs. Good luck! x

  9. Before you go down the charity route in UK get your doctor to put you in touch with an occupational therapist. My daughter has one provided free.
