Question:

Help with getting rid of rogue antivire/spyware messages.

I'm frequently getting messages from rogue anti-viruses whenever I open any folder or IE. It reads something like "Your system is infected with spywares and viruses. Do you want to remove the virus? (Yes/No) " When I click yes. it goes to another site and attempts to download the software... When I click no, the internet receives an error and quits itself. Is there anyway to get rid of these? I already have an anti-virus, so tried removing them with it, but they were no help.

  1. To remove spyware, there are many solutions exist, all of them with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Top 5 anti-spywares reviews, comparisons and download links on

    http://anti-spyware-center.net

You can download and scan your computer for free.

  2. This program is classified as a "problem application" by Symantec. This culprit reports problems that do not exist. The solution is to get rid of the program.

    You will need removal tools

    A. Symantec instructions

    B. Hijack This

    C. AVAST

    A. Here is Symantec a write-up:

    http://www.symantec.com/security_respons...

Now, you don't need to purchase Norton, as AVAST and excellent FREE anti-virus tool and will clean any virus just fine...

so I'll give you that info below too.

Note: When follow the Symantec removal instructions, when you get to the part about disabling System Restore, make yourself a posty note to remember to ENABLE system Restore when you are finished.

    B. Also, look for the culprit program using this tool.

Use CAUTION as to what you remove.

    Get free anti-hijacking tool

for any hijack problems you might encounter

    1. The program is called HiJackThis 1.99

    2. Download and run the program

    BE CAREFUL what you delete,

    from it's findings...because

it will find the offending program

and others that you may NOT want to delete.

Only delete the one that hijacked you.

    =====================================

When all is done, run AVAST

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quaranteen).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

Note: I know of several people who have used AVG and gotten a virus anyway.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with this one for the last 5 years.

  3. I am using Windows XP with IE-7 as a browser.

    Here's what works for me:

SUPERAntiSpyware - you can download their free home version. It will get rid of the nasty stuff. Even gets rid of Antivirus 2009 spyware.

Lavasoft Ad-aware SE2008 -- gets rid of most ad-aware. Free home version.

Privacy Keeper -- cleans up your temporary files, web history, wave files etc. -- also free

Sweepi 5.4.0 -- cleans up dormant & old used files. -- Free

Assuming you have XP, make sure your firewall & popup blocker are on. Windows Internet Options.

Also Windows XP has a program called Windows Defender. Try running this and see if it detects and removes any spyware/ad-ware.

As for an antivirus program -- I tried Avast, AVG and Norton,  but found that both used too much memory -- I recently switched to Comodo Free Home Antivirus with good results.

Go to each of these sites and read the info  --  select & download the file/files.

    Hoped this helped.

  4. You can free download antispyware 2008

It also works very well for me
