  1. this might help you

    good luck

  2. It depends on the method that you can use to graph.

    If graphing by the slope-intercept method, the number at the end is the y-intercept (point on the y-axis) to start the line.  Then the number in front of the x is the slope (the rise over the run) to locate another point.

    For the first line, it would start as a point on the positive 3 on the y-axis, Then since the slope is -2/1, you would rise -2 (or go down 2) and then run 1 (go to the right 1) to place another point.  Then draw the line.

    The second line would start with a point on the -2 on the y-axis.  Then use the slope 1/3 to rise 1 (go up one space) and then run 3 (go 3 to the right) to place another point to draw the line.

    Good luck!

  3. PROBLEM:

    Graph:

    y = -2x + 3

    y = 1/3x -2

    Reggie Says:

    y=mx + b

    m = slope of the line.

    slope = rise (that's how much it changes vertically) / run (changes horizontally)

    b = where the line crosses the y-axis (that's the vertical axis).

    so if the equation of the line is y = -4x + 6 you go to (0, 6) which means you start where the x-axis and y-axis cross (the "origin") and go straight up til you get to 6. Make a dot. from there you count down four and to the right 1 and make another dot. Go back to the dot at (0, 6) and go left 1 and up 4. Make a dot. connect the dots to make a line, making sure you go all the way across the paper (don't stop at the dots).

    if the slope is 1/2 it means go up 1 and right 2 AND/OR down 1 and left 2.

    if the y-intercept (b) is -3 it means start at the origin and go down 3 for your first dot.

    Now you can use those examples I gave you to solve your problem.

    Hope this helps.

  4. y= -2x+3

    This is aline graph. Its aline because x is to the 1st power (its not x^2, or x^3...).

    the +3 is telling you that you need to move the graph up 3 on the y-axis from its origin (0,0). Now, at (0.3), place a dot.

    The two is telling you your line's slope. The slope is negative two. From (0.3), move down 2 on the y-axis, and to the right 1 on the x-axis. Place a dot.

    Connect your dots, that is your line.

    -----------------------

    y= 1/3x-2

    This is also a line graph, because x is to the 1st power.

    the -2 is telling you that it has been moved down on the y-axis two places. Find (0, -2) and place a dot.

    the 1/3x is positive, so your line is slanted upwards. Start at your dot (0, -2) and move up 1, and to the right 3. You should be at (3, -1). Place a dot.

    Connect your dots and you have your line.

    hope this helps
