  1. If you misspelled solicitors (what we call bill collectors in the US) there is little you can do in the UK, to the best of my knowledge. In the US we do have fair lending laws that prohibit collectors (or any one else) from telephone harassment. What I use is an answering machine with caller ID on our 2 handsets. Then we let the machine answer the calls (or intercept it if the calling party is of interest) and then have a recording of what ever message is left. I then transfer harassing calls to another recorder and send them to the proper authorities, such as the FCC,FTC, PUCO, etc.

All our phones, land line and cells are on the national do not call register, but collectors and politicians are exempt.

  2. If you are talking about people that call to sell you stuff... ask them to take you off the calling list .. .ask for their name and  tell them you are notating it on document.

register with the do not call list. at least if you are in usa!

if you are talking about a different kind  of situation then you would have to explain more.

  3. Put yourself on the national do not call registry.  After you put yourself on the list if the calls do not stop after 31 days you can file a complaint with them to get the calls stopped.  Here is the website to sign up.

    Good luck!!!

  4. If you are in the UK you can also register to stop unsolicited calls, takes about a month to get in place but my experience was very good. I used to get three or four calls a day, and now none.
