Help with high definition audio for blu ray disc pan's labrynith?

I use a ps3 for my blu ray player and have a 7.1 channel onkyo TX-SR605 av receiver that supports all the high definiton surround sound modes. I recently bought pan's labrynith on blu ray and it has a 7.1dts hd master audio track. The problem is i cannot get the 7.1 track to play, my system always says it is in 5.1 and the back speakers dont do anything. I havent had a chance to try any other blu ray discs yet with a high definiton 7.1 sound track because there are not manhy yet. Has anyone else had this problem or do i just have something not set right any info would be greatly appreciated.

  1. The only 7.1-channel surround sound format natively supported (without downmixing) by the Sony PS3™ is Linear PCM 7.1-Ch. audio. The PS3™ does not fully support the latest advanced 7.1-channel surround sound formats such as DTS-HD 7.1 Ch. surround sound.

“The system does not support output from DTS-HD 7.1 Ch.

DTS-HD 7.1 Ch. audio is output from 5.1 or a lower channel.”

For what it’s worth there currently are only two—maybe three—BD players (if that many) that are fully capable of outputting the new advanced 7.1-channel surround sound bitstreams.

At the present time the only option for those who wish to take advantage of the new advanced 7.1-channel surround sound formats is to use their disc player’s internal decoders (if equipped with the required advanced decoders) to decode the bitstream internally and output the discrete audio channels to the A/V receiver in analog form; this rules-out the PS3™ of course.
