Help with highschool class selection/college acceptance? ?

I failed two of my classes last year (junior) them being Chemistry and Algebra2. This brought my gpa down to a 1.8, and I was wondering, should I take the classes again? I was hoping to get into a 4-year university but I feel like even if I do take those classes and make D's in them AT BEST and A's in all of my other 8 classes, it won't help at all because I have to apply in the fall of my senior year anyway. Help?

  1. I think you should retake the classes and look into getting a tutor for those classes.  Making a decent grade would definitely raise your GPA.  If you work hard your last year, you will thank yourself in the long run for going the extra mile.

  2. I know in Kansas you will be accepted at a State University if you complete a certain course list, get at least a 21 on the ACT, or graduate in the top half of your class. That only applies to public universities though, not privated colleges.

  3. Ouch.  You may want to take them again for your own benefit, but I would consider a community college for two years.  If you do well, you can get into a much better college than if you applied directly from HS.  You will need to pass Algebra II or you will have to take remedial math at the CC and the credits will not transfer.
