At practice when we work on our hitting I never can do it! I know how you are supposed to approach but it seems like it takes so long that I am afraid I will be late so i always start too early and hit the net. how do i know when to approach??

  1. as soon as the ball reaches the setters hands, you should start your approach. and if youre running into the net, scoot back! rule of thumb, your second to last step should be at the 10 foot line or behind. well, if youre short then i guess a lil in front. just keep your eye on the ball. once it is in the setters hands, start your approach.

  2. I didnt like it when the setter sent the ball to high, so then the setter got to know the correct height I liked the ball to be hit. Maybe you should ask the setter not to put the ball to high, if you start to approach to soon and the ball is not that high, you may be able to hit it right on target

  3. if you are right handed junp out w/ your left foot another big jump w/ your right and then put both feet togetherat a 45 degree angle jump up and hit it and if you have anymore problems ask your caoch to help and thay will and remember it is never the setter's fault they have the hardest job on the team and get the least amount of credit!!!!!

  4. to do a good hit you have to be farmiliar with your setter to know what she does and how she sets so before you set talk to her on how close you want it from the net and about how high...then time it and swing for it at its highest point arm extended

  5. as soon as the setter puts the ball in the air that is when you should start going to the net that is what my coach told me to do!!

  6. If you believe that it is the setter's problem, ask her not to set the ball too high. For practice, I guess you can't ask the setter to change that much. It is all about you adjusting to the setter's style (unless you are the middle hitter).

If it is your problem, don't approach until the ball has left the setter's hand... if you are still "too quick", don't approach until the ball has reached the highest point in the air.

It really takes practice to gel (you and your setter), and to get to the point that you feel perfect.

  7. When the ball reaches its highest point after the setter sets, that's when you take your approach. Meaning, LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT-JUMP. On the right left, it should be STEP TOGETHER in a fast motion! Make sure you bring up both your arms and stay sorta low before you take your approach to give yourself a boost in jumping!! Also, if you think you're gonna hit the net, then just start your approach slightly off of the 10ft line. You dont have to be exactly on the line! Make sure you tell your setter where/how you want the set to be before the game or during practices. Wether you want it a tight set or a far off set. YOu really have to communicate w/ your setter. She should be your bff on the court! During practices, tell her exactly what you want. She'll adjust and follow if you are one of the main hitters.

  8. as soon as the setter sets the ball to start ur approach also when u hit the ball hit the ball on top of it and snap ur rist.
