I have a Linksys router with a brand new HP laptop (Vista) and an old Gateway laptop (XP sp2) connected through wireless; file sharing is on for both computers, on the gateway, I know for sure there is no firewalls but for the Vista I know that Norton is running, I cant shut it down and I turned off all the firewalls i could and set the network to trusted but I still cant see the computers on each others networks to share files. I've seen this setup quite easily but what am I missing?

  2. Hello From the tech:

One thing to try is that on the computer with Xp go to

Control Panel > Network connections > right click on the network card and go to properties.

Click on install > Double click on Protocal and select IPX/SPX and hit install this will add the language that should allow you to see the computers.

Have a gr8 day, hope this helps

    NightHawk

  3. the first thing you need to do is install the drivers for your router, and after that you can open your routers security settings and program your two laptops into your routers security so those two computers can pass through the router with ease
