Please dont tell me to do my own homework, I am stuck on this one question and have done all the other questions. Please help!!!!

450 had to do this survey :

roll a dice

If you roll a 6 tick the yes box

If you dont roll a 6 answer the question truefully

Have you lied to your boss about being sick to get a day off work?

118 ticked the box

Estimate the proportion of people who lied about being sick.

But because people who rolled the dice and got 6 they have to tick the yes box even if they havent, how do i work it out cause im really confused,, btw the anwer is a percentage!!

Im beleive it may be 18 to 21% of people lied to get a day off.

118/450 = 26.2222(repeated).  So 26% of the people said they lied about being sick.  I think thats the answer, because the 74% didn't roll a 6 or answer the question...

THe answer according to that math is 26%.  Divide the total ticked box by the total number. Don't worry about finding out who rolled a 6 and who had to answer the question, it doesn't ask you that.  It asks you who "lied to get a day off"...and thats everyone in the 118.  :)

Based on probability there's a 1/6 chance you'll roll a 6, 6 sides on a dice, 1 side is a 6.

So in theory...

75 people rolled a 6 (Ticked Yes Box)... from 1/6th of 450

118 ticked the box - 75 people who had to tick the box = 43 answered yes by choice

118/450 = 26.2% (if you consider people who rolled a 6 and had to mark yes as lying)

43/375 = 11.5% (if you ignore the people who rolled a 6)

74% is the percent of people who didn't get a 6. but it doesn't tell you how many people said they lied to their boss... im no good when it comes to math, but i'd say ask your teacher for help!
