  1. You can list it on iTunes for free.

You can use software to create an iTunes compatible podcast. The software will automatically encode the podcast feed for you. I would suggest FeedForAll, there is a free download at http://www.feedforall.com (there is both a Windows and a Mac version).

There is a tutorial that will walk you through setting up an iTunes compatible podcast - http://www.feedforall.com/itunes-tutoria...

If you need audio recording software simply look at their podcasting bundle.

    Goodluck!

  2. Itunes is just a listing service. To make a podcast:

You need a way to record it - for audio, that means a recorder or a microphone that plugs into your computer.

A way to get it into your computer - some kind of interface like Windows Recorder or any other application that might have come with your computer. Check the cd's that came with it and see if you have a program called  Recordit. Or, there's a free program at http://audacity.sourceforge.net that allows you to record and edit. After you're done, save as an MP3 file

A web host - there are free ones but only for practice. For other people to get the podcast, you need bandwidth and that costs $5.00 - $10.00 a month. Use a web host that's just for podcasting, and they will provide you with the RSS code that you will use to get yourself listed on itunes and for your fans to subscribe.
