Question:

Help with ideas on my poem?

I'm making a poem about choices, and need some more ideas for what's a choice you make during the day. Here's what I have so far...

Everyday you make a choice

You choose your attitude

What you make of the day

You choose your gratitude

Be loyal, or betray

You choose to stand up

For what you know is right

Or you choose to give up

Give up a hard fight

So what do you think so far, and do you have any more ideas? Keep in mind I'm 14..

  1. how about something like tell the truth or lie?

not as similar as loyal or betray...

    how about happy or sad?

    good deeds or walk away?

cross the path of life or give it up?

  2. I really like it, so far...You're on the right track!

You covered: attitude, gratitude, loyalty and faith fullness. Maybe love or kindness or compassion?

  3. For 14 it is a good start.  Keep them coming.

  4. You have  talent. I like the flow and it is an intriguing subject. This is your draft and I am sure you will make several changes until you are satisfied with the result. If I were writing the poem, I would not make it much longer, staying with your main theme,  I wrote the following:

You choose to be who you are,

    making no apologies

    you know you are right.

    Choices made today

    cannot be changed tonight.

    Choose wisely--

Choices determine the rest of your life.

The really great thing about poetry, you get to format to your satisfaction. The only one who has to be impressed with the result is you. Keep writing-- you will do well.
