Question:

Help with importing Sony Handycam (model DCR-DVD610) movie files.?

We have a Sony handycam (model DCR-DVD610) and we're trying to import the files from the camera itself ( to keep from having to finalize it) through the provided USB cord. We would like to import it into Moviemaker. Using the software provided (Picture Motion Browser (PMB)) allows us to view the clips w/o sound, but it won't let us import it into moviemaker (our movie editing program of choice). I understand moviemaker doesn't support MPEG files and I was wondering if anyone could/would help us figure out how to import our movie files from our camcorder w/o having to finalize it so we could edit it with sound in moviemaker.

Thanks

  1. Hopefully, your computer has a drawer loading DVD drive. If yes, download and install HandBrake

and rip the video from the DVD.

If your computer has a slot loading drive or the optical drive does only CDs, then you will need the AV cable that came in the box with the camcorder and you need to get an analog/digital bridge like
