i have a 40 inch samsung lcd and a samsung home theatre. My xbox 360 is connected to the t.v right now through hdmi same as my home theatre. I don't want to connect my xbox 360 to the home theatre because it outputs 1080i and i want 1080p. The samsung has a digital out were a optical cable connects. Can I connect my xbox to the t.v then use a optical cable to connect from the t.v to the home theatre so i can get the xbox 360 sound on the speakers?

Will this work. On the t.v it says digital out or something around those words and the optical cable fits there.

These are my t.v and hometheatre.

  1. Yes, I think it will work.  The only way is to try it.

  2. Yes, that is exactly what you should do. It will work perfectly.

  3. those links dont work. however your tv has to be 1080p capable to get that output from your xbox. if so you will need to run the hdmi cable in order to get that resolution

  4. your links do not go to any product pages on that website...

the way you are describing is the same way that I have my HDTV set up, I have an audio output on the TV that I connected to the input of my home theater system, you should have no problem setting it up this way...
