Help with leaps!?

okay, im a dancer and i have good technique and i could do everything else good except for leaps. i dont know if im missing out an an important detail or what but i just cant get my legs up high enough. i do plie before leaping but its not working. somebody please help!

  1. practice, everyone isnt good at everything, im better at leaps than turns work on leg strength


  2. Getting farther in your splits may help. If your having trouble getting of the ground from just a plie, try running into them at home, but dont make  it  a bad habit. If  u have a trampoline, practice jumping straight up into the leap on there.

  3. just keep working on them- it took me years to get my split leaps anywhere close to right.  the height issues resolved themselves as my legs strengthened and i did more and more small jumping exersises.  the split part of the leap was greatly improved by practicing my straddle stretches frequently.  talk to other dancers, see what works for them, and adapt to your own needs.

  4. leaps are a very hard step to master.

    if heights your only problem

    *try strengthening all your leg muscles.

    *do pink jumps with your hands out in front of you

    *make sure when your about to leap you spring of the ball of your foot.

    those two words will help you alot.

    you need a good oversplit. and a developpay higher than 90 degrees.

    also alot of practise and a good run up.
