Please help me solve these!

63. 0.05x + 0.12(x+5000) = 940

65. 0.02(50) + 0.08r = 0.04(50 + r)

67. 0.05x + 0.10(200-x) =0.45x

Any help is so appreciated! Thanks so much!

  1. For the first one, X = 2000.

    That's got you started.

  2. 63)

    first, distribute the .12

    .05x + .12x + 600 = 940

    then add the x's together

    .17x + 600 = 940

    then get the x term alone on one side, so subtract the 600 from both sides

    .17x = 340

    then get rid of the .17 by dividing both sides by .17

    x = 2000

    just follow the same steps for the other problems, and you should get the answer

  3. Solve them like any other equations.  Either use them as is, as I shall do in 63 and 65, or multiply throughout by 100 as I shall do in 67.

    63.

    .05x + .12x + 600 = 940

    .17x = 340

    x = 340/0.17 = 2000

    65.

    .02(50) + .08r = .04(50 + r)

    1 + .08r = 2 + .04r

    .04r = 1

    r = 1/.04 = 25

    67.

    .05x + .10(200 - x) = .45x

    5x + 10(200 - x) = 45x

    5x + 2000 - 10x = 45x

    2000 = 50x

    x = 40
