my boyfriend and i are going to college in a month and our cell phone service is very spotty in the areas. we have dorm phones but really don't want to spend a lot of money on calling cards. he was telling me how when he was at a hotel once, you could call from the hotel phone, get it transferred to your house phone so it would be charged to the house, then call the person your trying to reach. does anyone know how to do this? or can anyone give a good solution to our problem?

thank you!

  1. Using calling cards does not have to be an expensive venture, especially if you use a VoIP calling card gateway.

    This web site explains how:

  2. I know that this is an option, you have to call the operator then give them a number to bill to. A long time ago, they would just charge the number, nowadays, someone has to be at the number to be billed to verify that it is o-kay to bill the phone.

If either of you have a laptop, I would suggest that you try to get an VOIP service or the magic jack service. The magic jack turns your  computer into a personalized phone, all you do is plug your home phone into the computer, and presto.....you are making calls all over the US.........for less than $2.. a month!

Should be a great investment, so cheap both of you can get one.
