  1. I have been iceskating for 5 years and i had that problem to. Before the jump keep your hands out and right before you push off into the air bring them in really close and tight. Also if you are doing backcrossovers into the jump slide you inside foot longer than you usually would and it will make your jump higher and longer so you have time to think of the little things.

  2. Try pulling your arms in tight and keep your eyes open. This has helped me. :)

  3. The flip and loop are my favorite jumps, and I worked so hard to get them!  I had this same exact problem!! What I would suggest, (for the flip) is making sure that your foot is back far enough before you jump.  If your toe-pick is right by your other foot, you won't get much height.  For the loop, just strenghten your legs off ice...that helped me loads!  Good Luck!

  4. i had alot of problems with the loop. just practice it off ice alot and remem to keep ur arms in. for the flip if ur doing it from a 3 turn or mohawk, its kinda like the loop on ur toe way toepick, from bw cross overs, my fave way to do a flip, u just kinda do it. u cant be scared of the ice

  5. sit back on your back leg and bend your knees.

on loop--focus on leaning on your outside edge

on flip--focus not so much on up but on up and over( in other words, focus on using your tap to pull you BACK into the air)

    hope this helps!

    and good luck!

  6. Loop . . . bend that take off knee and put all your weight on it . . . hold that back outside edge til you can't hold it anymore (you'll naturally be turning) . . . then jump up and bring your arms in.   Loops can actually be done with very little height . . . you should still be able to get around the jump with the right technique.  BUT what will give you height is your bent knee and take off timing working together . . . and lots of speed!

Get your loop down before working on your flip, if you can.  It's a loop in the air . . . so knowing the feel of a loop would help with the flip.

Flip . . . reach back with your pick leg . . . let the take off leg catch up to the pick foot to launch you up (like vaulting) and bring your arms in.  Again, flips can be done with no height but with the correct technique.  Height is achieved with the timing of your pick leg and take off leg working together and of course speed.

There are other details to getting these jumps, but the solution to your dilemma depends on the details of how you are jumping now.  So this is just "general" advice.

    Hope that helps a bit!
