  1. You can get married with parental consent at 16 yrs in IL to someone that is an adult, however, you are not legally allowed to have s*x with him even though he is you husband until you are of legal age to do so.

My wife and I were dating while in school and we got married when she was 17 and I just turned 18.  I was amazed when I heard that we could not have s*x, and people would check on us to see how things were going just to see if we did. I was only 6 mos older so it wasn't too bad.

I will guarantee that it doesn't matter where you get married if you are 16 and he is 21, then he will be in trouble.

  2. Wait until your 25.  You'll be much happier.

  3. Just wait!!!! til you're old enough. You've got your whole life ahead of you. Marriage is hard.... if you're asking this question you're way too young. What's your hurry? DON'T DO IT.

  4. Age for marriage in Illinois without permission from your parents(in writing and signature required on official document) is 18. With permission from your parents (and the appropriate paper work) you can marry as young as 13. As for going to another state and then returning with your new 21 year old husband, if your parents did not give permission and press charges (which most time they should and will) then he will be charged with unlawful transaction with a minor and transporting minor across state lines (federal felony offense), as well as custodial interference, and if the marriage was consummated (sexual activity involved) then he can be charged with statutory rape and be listed as a s*x offender. If the bride is pregnant then she can be declared an emancipated minor (adult due to unusual circumstances) with the ability to make decisions for herself and the rules change, however the guy can still be charged by her parents with statutory rape, unlawful transaction with a minor, and s*x offender according to how hard the prosecuting attorney wants to push it.

Best advice..... wait until you are fully matured, more aware of the world and emotionally ready to gauge how your future should go. Young marriages almost never workout these days.

  5. No one should get married at 16....ever!

  6. here in FL is 18. why do you want to get married at the age of 16? that is very young! i know.... u dont care what other people say! i been there done that! but just take it slow.. think about it... get counseling first and then make the desicion!

  7. wait until you get older dont make my same mistake cause you will regret it later instead focus on your future and stop thinking about getting married now..

  8. DO NOT GET MARRIED! If he loves you and you love him than wait till your at least 18. As you get older you look at the world differently, don't give up your teen years so soon, you will never get them back.

  9. Sorry but all states have the same age: 18. 16-17 have to have parental consent and under that you can't get married. It's a bad idea anyway. Just wait and until you finish school.
