Help with math?

Question

So I'm an 9th grader, home schooled, and in Algebra 1. I'm having trouble with being motivated to do my work (mainly math). I haven't been good at it since kindergarten (haha). At the public school I went to I was passing in everything (except math). I went to my mom for help, but still am not getting it. I'm afraid that my lack of skill in this area will prohibit me from doing well on the SAT as well as in college. What should I do about this problem?

Look into using a tutor.  Or use a curriculum such as Teaching Textbooks.  My 10 y.o. son is using their Algebra I now.

Search for algebra help online, get a tutor, such as Kumon for help with your math.

Also, take the ACT, not the SAT. My sister was HORRIBLE at math but went to college on her ACT scores and ended up with a masters in English. You don't HAVE to be good at math unless your major demands it.

There are a number of excellent math programs out there, including Saxon, Singapore Math and Math U See.  At your age you would be perfectly capable of working these programs on your own.

Don't worry about "not being good at math."  We have a PhD in physics in our family who "wasn't good at math" until finding out how interesting advanced math really is.
