Help with monologues.

I'm going to be a senior in high school and I need to audition for scholarships with the Muhlenberg Theatre program. The program itself is non-audition, but you can get extra money for auditioning. I need to perform two contrasting monologues not totaling longer than 5 minutes. Problem is...I never had to prepare a monologue before. And I know I should have been reading plays years ago, but I never did. I can probably find a monolgue, but I don't really have any local resources to read the plays. I don't think they carry any in my local library. I don't know what to do.

  1. find another library! but never never ever ever use a monologue from the internet or a monologue book. that's theatre suicide.

my two contrasting monologues that i use for auditions are "Permutations" from The Colored Museum (comedy) and one from Joan of Ark (drama.) if you wanted, you could could just order those two plays online and do those two, they work pretty well for a teenage girl. but don't do them without reading the plays. well, hope you figure it out. good luck!
