Help with motorcycle licence?

I am 17 years old and am looking to get my motorcycle licence soon. What are the requirments to first get a permit (do I need a parent/guardian)? Also how long would I have to have a permit before I get a license? I plan to sign up for the class as soon as I receive a permit.

You dont' need your permit to sign up for a class.  The best/safest rout is to get enrolled in a class first.  When you finish the class you will know how to ride safely and you will have the Driving part of your test done. After the class all you need to do to get your licence is to take the written test (don't forget that you will probably have to take the car driving written test too).

one of your parents might have to be present, to provide a signature, but it's just a written test here in ohio...

then you take the MSF, and decide what kind of bike you want...
