I have an rx7 13b turbo with an ltx8 ecu. When i was last driving it, it was giving off small backfires. Parked it and havnt driven it but i started it tonight and it will idle for about 30 seconds then keep stalling, it also isnt seeming to be very responsive to the throttle seems like it isnt getting fuel or something. Anyone please help??

  1. it's probably running really rich. Too much fuel and not enough air ends up in unburnt fuel making it's way into the exhaust

That or your ignition is bad.

Go ahead and give it a tune up (replace the following) if any of them are old or for any reason would be suspected: Spark Plugs (I'm assuming you have 2...I don't know rotaries that well), Spark Plug Wires (assuming you have them, distributorless ignition systems just have ignition coils on the plugs), fuel filter, etc.

  2. How many miles are on it?  The rotary engines are not meant to be high mileage cars, you may need to rebuild the engine to get the compression back.

  3. Sorry about your luck but the topend went and it is loosing compresion my 93 did the same thing.

  4. back fires can be too much fuel on the rotor or bad spark

give it a good tune up, change all filters and ignition components, sparks plugs, cables, iginition cap and rotor

if that doesnt help came back with new info

  5. ususally is due to mapping of ecu setting, reset the ecu map.  local tune shop would set it for you, or dyno shop can

Back fire is cost by extra fuel came out of exhaust so you dont have to worry about that...
