ok so ive only had my clear retainers for about a month. and the bottom one is still completely clear, but the top one looks foggy like at the front of it. i think it may be from where i put chap stick on my lips at night and it rubs against my lips. so i was wondering if i could put makeup remover on it or use mouth wash. what are safe things to clean it with that i would already have around the house, i bought this stuff called klinite and it doesn't help that much. is there a better cleaner out there that you know works better from experience? but i really want to know if i can put my clinique makeup remover on it to get rid of the chap sticky look. please help

  1. Don't put make up remover on it! It is abrasive to the surface and you don't really want that kind of residue in your mouth.

Have your dentist prescribe a cleaning solution for you. I have the clear retainers from invisalign but my son has the other type and both use the same cleaning solution.

  2. Brushing it super hard with your toothbrush and rinsing before you put it in the reatainer cleaner helps.

  3. I have clear retainers too and I understand. The foggy stuff is just calcium build up from you saliva (gross, I know) I great easy and effective way to clean them is white vinegar. Pour some in a cup let the retainer sit in the white vinegar for 5 minutes. Brush off you retainers with a tooth brush and rinse them and they should be as good as new!

    I promise this works!
