Question:

Help with my Employment Application Form?

Trying to get a part time job, but it seems like it's going to be difficult for me, due to the fact that I don't have "previous employment".

But the thing is, for the past, 5-6 years, I've been working for my father at his business. So I have obtain special skills like customer handling, office managing, manual hand labor, etc...

I have no juvenile records and I'm all clean, also a US Citizen.

What are my chances of working at this job? (Hollister)

Also, it is asking me, "Position Desired", I don't really know how many positions there are except "cashier" because, I see people folding clothes, or setting up new stocks, what are those positions called?

Also, it is asking me:

PERMISSION TO WORK:

If employment is offered, can you submit verification of your legal right to work in the U.S?

Yes No

What are they asking for? Birth Certificate, Social Security #, or a working permit from my school?

So yeah, that's all my question I have about the employment form.

Thank you everyone that helped me in advance.

*Please don't say "Just call Hollister about the information." The question is basically aiming for the people who already has a job and familiar with the employment form. I just want to learn from people's expierence, that's all.

  1. For "Position Desired" just put Sales Associate.

The verification of employment would be either a social security card or government issued id (i.e. state id, driver license, passport, or military id, birth certificate maybe).  You don't have to present all of these, but I'm sure they'll want to see one of them.

If you're under the age of 18, you'll most likely have to get a work permit from your school as well.

Don't worry about the work experience part.  Companies like Hollister tend to hire teenagers, so they won't expect you to have much if any work experience.  If some of the skills you learned while working with your father can be beneficial to your employment with Hollister, don't be shy about mentioning those skills.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Well, it sounds like you do have job experience and you should definitely list it on your application.  Whether it's your dad or not, it's work and experience.  If you weren't paid then it's volunteer experience.  Do not hand in that application without listing it!!

The people on the floor may be called floor person or stock person or salesperson? I'm not certain about this part.

As far as permission to work, a birth certificate from the US will work (or a citizenship card).

One last tip: don't leave any blanks.  If something doesn't apply to you put N/A in the space so they know that you didn't just forget to answer a portion.

    Good luck  :)
